Period underwear looks and feels like regular underwear, but it has built-in layers that absorb your flow. It can replace pads and tampons completely. If you are trying it for the first time, this guide covers everything you need to know.
How does period underwear work?
Clair period underwear has four layers. A soft top layer wicks moisture away from your skin so you feel dry. An absorbent core locks in your flow. A leak-proof barrier keeps your clothes clean, and a breathable outer layer keeps everything comfortable. One pair holds the equivalent of 3–5 regular tampons.
Which style should I choose?
- The Motion: seamless and invisible under clothes, for moderate flow.
- The Essential: your everyday pair for moderate to heavy flow.
- The Secure: full front-to-back coverage for your heaviest days and nights.
How long can I wear one pair?
Clair period underwear is designed for extended wear, from morning to night. Everyone’s flow is different, so on your first cycle try it on a lighter day or in the evening at home to learn how it works for you.
How many pairs do I need?
We recommend 3–5 pairs: one to wear, one or two in the wash and a couple ready to go. Bundles and sets are the easiest way to build your kit and save.
How do I wash it?
- After wearing, rinse in cold water until the water runs clear.
- Machine wash on a cold delicates cycle (30°C), ideally in a laundry bag.
- Hang to dry. Do not use hot water or a tumble dryer.

What size should I buy?
Choose your usual lingerie size: there is no need to size up for the absorbent layers. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one. Our size guide shows how to measure your waist and hips.
